SnipNotes will periodically create an archive file with all your notes and save it to your iCloud Drive. This is a safety feature in case notes get lost or are accidentally deleted. You can configure or turn off the automatic export in settings. By default, images are not included in the archive to save space.
You can import an archive file from the “Export & Import” section of the settings menu. SnipNotes will save the contents of the archive into a separate category. Your existing notes remain unchanged.

Welcome to SnipNotes 5! This major update adds some of the most frequently requested features. For a detailed overview, please go to snipnotes.de/update-5.
You can now create multiple levels of categories to organize your notes hierarchically. Long-press (or right-click) on a category and select “Move…” to assign it to another category. On iOS, you can also drag a category to the bottom of your screen to move it. You can unlock nested categories by making a one-time purchase within the app. If you have purchased SnipNotes Plus after January 1st, 2023, you will automatically get access to nested categories.
The category list has a new look and a few new features. For example, you can collapse the trash or your own categories to save space. Protected categories will show a little lock icon.
You can now choose from a huge selection of modern icons when creating new categories. There is also a search field which helps you find the right icon for your category. The same selection of icons is available for your notes as well.
SnipNotes on Apple Watch will now synchronize directly with iCloud, which should improve reliability.
On Mac, you can now integrate SnipNotes into your shortcuts. Create notes and categories, append text to notes, open notes, and much more.
SnipNotes 5 for Mac is available as a new app on the Mac App Store for macOS 12 and later. This is a technical requirement to allow for shared purchases between iOS and macOS. Please go to snipnotes.de/migration-5 for more details on how to migrate to the new version.

The new live text feature in iOS 15 allows you to insert text from your camera into your notes. Place the cursor into a text field, bring up the copy/paste menu and tap the square icon.

You can now create reminders for your notes!
Open a note and tap on the alarm clock in the lower right corner to create a new reminder.
You can create multiple reminders for each note. Each reminder has a date, time, recurrence interval, and optional notice.
SnipNotes will send you a notification when the reminder is due. In the notification, you can open the note, complete the reminder or snooze it.
You can manage your reminders in settings. From there, you can also change the snooze duration and a few other options.
Reminders synchronize between your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. They are currently not available on the Mac.

Welcome to SnipNotes 4! This update revamps the app for iOS 14.
You can add multiple widgets to your home screen. There are different types of widgets available for quick access to categories, individual notes, and various shortcuts.
SnipNotes now uses a three-column layout on the iPad. On the iPhone, the app is easier to use with one hand. You can swipe to reveal the category list, and frequently used controls are now located at the bottom.
Many areas of the app have been modernized for iOS 14. There is a new color picker, date picker, and image picker. The dark mode adapts better to iOS.
The app icon has a new look, too. There are eleven different color variants available in the tip jar.
You can now long-press on notes and categories to access frequently used actions.
